"When I first got the script I was crying out for help from somebody because she (7/9) was completely Borg and I was floundering around trying to figure out who this character was.
The director, Winriche Kolbe, gave me the image of a Prussian general because we didn't want a robot, we didn't want that stiff automated thing. We DID want her to have that strength, that groundedness,
so the Prussian general is the image that helped me the most to really find this character as a Borg.
It's a tough role to play, though, particularly when I was ALL Borg because there's no emotion and you're playing that you don't have your own thoughts, that you're part of this whole collective thing.
It's not your everyday kind of acting scenes. It got better at the end of the first episode because I got severed from the collective and began having my own feelings. Then it's a whole different thing,
it's scary, it's new. I guess that's the scariest thing for me right now. Obviously with each script and storyline you can find the arc of the character and explore it's progression during that story,
but I only see a script a week before we shoot it. The difficult thing for me is trying to figure out, long-term, what the progress for this character is. They're talking about three more years here,
at least, so there's got to be somewhere to go. I've always been aware of 'Star Trek' but until I was involved in it I had no idea the extent to which this universe has a life unto itself.
Because that's what it is, a 'universe' and it's HUGE, I honestly had no idea. This is all still new to me. We're on episode seven, but none of them have aired yet, so I'm still just seeing the tip of the iceberg!"
