Motown`s First Asian-American Male Singer!

updated 05/30/2000

terry lin It's amazing enough that Terry Lin is a 6'2" Asian R&B singer. Add to that the fact that he has made history by becoming the first Asian man to record an album for legendary Motown Records and you've got a genuine phenomenon. The New Jersey native's latest release is entitled "Feels Like the First Time" and is a satisfying collection of songs that draw from a number of different styles. But whether you're chillin` to the pop ballads "Angel" and "Crazy Love", grooving to the smooth R&B/ jazz of "Thief in the Night" and the title cut, or moving to the slamming dance tracks "Living For Your Loving" and the Frankie Knuckles penned "Hush", you'll be treated to tunes crafted with a with a smooth sophisticated edge.

While many people are just starting to hear about Terry he is no overnight sensation. His first album was released in 1991 on an independent label. While he lacked major label support he nonetheless caught the attention of a number of industry figures who recognized his talent and who were eager to work with him. Those figures include Motown's Timmy Regisford who signed Terry and Frankie Knuckles, the godfather of house music, who contributed to the current album and who remixed Lin's first ever single, "Telephone Lover." Contributions were also made by Martyn Ware, a former member of the 80's synthpop group Heaven Seventeen and a former producer for Tina Turner.
